In this final rule, the Department of Energy (DOE) is adopting new and amended energy conservation standards for battery chargers. DOE has determined that new and amended standards would result in significant conservation of energy, are technologically feasible, and are economically justified. Specifically, the standards adopted and amended by this final rule would reflect the provisions of the Energy Policy and Conservation Act (EPCA) and would be expressed in terms of maximum active charge energy, maximum standby mode power, and maximum off modes power as measured according to DOE's battery test procedure codified at Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR), Part 430, Subpart B, Appendix Y1.
