The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) is proposing to provide funding to General Electric’s Vernova Advanced Research Center (GE) to design, develop, fabricate and test a frameless assembly process for the root section of wind turbine blades. Ideation and small-scale prototyping would occur at Oakridge National Laboratory in Oak Ridge, Tennessee.
