The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) is proposing to provide federal funding to North Carolina State University (NC State) for the design, fabrication, and testing of a wave-powered desalination system and surface vessel. The system would consist of a wave-powered autonomous surface vessel outfitted with a piston pump, a reverse osmosis unit, and a control valve system.
