AMO’s second workshop in its series on semiconductor R&D concentrated on the role of ultra-precision control in enabling manufacturable, ultra-energy-efficient (e.g. > 10x more efficient than conventional MOSFET) semiconductor devices.
The workshop featured presentations, discussions, and breakout sessions on:
- Ultra-energy efficient device R&D across federal agencies
- Plenary by Semiconductor Research Corporation on the SRC/SIA plan for 1,000,000x improvements in semiconductor energy efficiency
- Ultra-precise manufacturing processes and tools
- Research, development, demonstration, and deployment (RDD&D) synergies and challenges with devices, manufacturing, and tools.
