The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) is proposing to provide federal funding to the Vermont Energy Investment Corporation (VEIC) to create a zero-energy modular (ZEM) construction package of processes and protocols that produce standardized ZEM multifamily homes. Project activities include development of construction evaluation protocols (modeling, measurement, quality assurance); design and finalization of construction plans for multifamily ZEM buildings (energy efficiency, building design) and factory (building plans, factory design); development and delivery of a quality management system (QMS) and training curriculum for local workforce development programs (including one train the trainer training); and creation and dissemination of open-source blueprints of the factory and ZEM modular multifamily building design.
