The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) is proposing to provide federal funding to the University of Delaware to improve the volumetric storage capacities of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs). In addition to this, the recipient would utilize porous molecular materials toward composite MOF/cage adsorbents. Both the synthetic work and characterization would be carried out at the University of Delaware and would largely involve organic synthesis techniques and spectroscopic measurements. Collaboration is expected to occur with the Hydrogen Materials Advanced Research Consortium (HyMARC). Any work proposed to be conducted at a federal facility may be subject to additional NEPA review by the cognizant federal official and must meet the applicable health and safety requirements of the facility.
