DOE has prepared a draft environmental assessment to analyze the potential environmental impacts of the proposed expansion which would include construction and operation of 16.5 miles of overhead power line to provide additional capabilities for electrical grid testing. This new overhead line will be placed alongside an existing transmission line at the 890-square-mile Idaho National Laboratory (INL) site.
