January 14, 2019During the Readiness Assessment Activities for the TRM project, there were numerous concerns raised about the general health and well being of personnel working in the truckwell/truckwell airlock during the heat of the summer. Due to the high external temperatures and the personal protective equipment requirements for personnel working in these areas, the heat stress levels can and often do reach category 5 for the personnel in the truckwell/truckwell airlock. Due to the location for the TRM project being within a High CA/ARA regular breaks for cooling off and hydrating are not an option. Additionally during the winter months, the cold external temperatures combined with the high air flow through the truckwell airlock could create a situation where cold stress and frostbite are encountered. In order to remedy this, a heating/air conditioning system that consists of a fan, ducting and heating/cooling coils will be installed adjacent to the truckwell airlock and will blow conditioned air through the perforated panels of the truckwell airlock outer roll door.
