CX-018326: Expanding Mechanical Testing and Characterization Capabilities for Irradiated Materials Research at University of Florida

The University of Florida proposes to purchase and install an EDAX electron backscattering diffraction/energy dispersive spectroscopy unit and tensile grips and a turbo-pump for the currently installed MTS 100 kilonewton Landmark Test System. The proposed equipment will help establish the capability to conduct mechanical testing of neutron irradiated structural materials and expand the microstructural characterization by adding high-resolution capabilities for use on radioactive materials.
