CX-018224: Applied Studies and Technology Soil Sampling for Analytical Studies, Lakeview, Oregon, Disposal Site

The United States Department of Energy Office of Legacy Management is proposing to continue the disposal cell cover study work that was performed in fall 2017. The study evaluates soil-forming processes on cell cover engineering properties. During the 2017 work, an acceptable analog soil site (one that is located off of the cell and that has a clay layer similar to the clay layer in the disposal cell) could not be located within the area identified for the study. This follow-on action includes new study areas and would be focused on finding acceptable analog sites. Once located, researchers would characterize soil morphology and collect soil samples.
