DOE issued final DOE/EA-1762, which analyzed the potential environmental impacts of awarding a federal grant to Spartanburg County for the construction and operation of a landfill gas collection and pipeline system to recover waste energy (methane) at the Wellford Landfill in Spartanburg County, South Carolina. The proposal included transmission of the landfill gas to the Milliken Dewey Plant, a chemical manufacturing facility, where the gas would be treated and pressurized for use in the Plant’s on-site generator.
