Former Director of Communications, National Nuclear Security Administration

Anna Newby served as NNSA’s Director of Communications. In this role, she served as a spokesperson for the agency and managed the PA team responsible for external communications to the media, general public, and other stakeholders. Ms. Newby promoted NNSA’s mission and responded to inquiries and interviews.
Ms. Newby previously served as Senior Director for Communications at a global strategic advisory firm and as Communications Director and Managing Editor of the Foreign Policy Program at the Brookings Institution. Earlier in her career, she was an editor with the World Bank’s Poverty Global Practice, a Yahoo! Junior Fellow at Georgetown University’s Institute for the Study of Diplomacy, and Editor-in-Chief of the Georgetown Journal of International Affairs.
Ms. Newby earned her Masters of Science in foreign service from Georgetown University and her Bachelor of Arts from Brown University.
