NNSA is the U.S. Government leader in a wide range of technical domains, including nuclear security and radiological and nuclear incident response. As part of its support to U.S. Government contingency planning efforts, NNSA provides Liaison Officers to key elements of the Department of Defense (DoD) to ensure that its policies and operations are informed by NNSA’s unparalleled knowledge of nuclear threats.
NNSA Liaison Officers provide expertise and serve as a conduit for exchanging information between NNSA and DoD, ranging from scientific and technical insights to policies and operational capabilities. The liaisons highlight opportunities for cooperation and coordination; support DoD planning, training, exercises, and partner capacity-building efforts; and provide technical reachback to experts across NNSA headquarters and DOE’s National Laboratories.
