How do you support NNSA?
I support NNSA as a Lead HR Specialist in support of the Office of Secure Transportation (OST).
What is your personal background, and how has that shaped you and your approach to your career?
I’m from Albuquerque, New Mexico. Most of my family has worked for the Federal Government in the military, as civilians or contractors. Since I was young, I knew that I wanted to spend my career as a federal divilian because of the stories that they shared with me.
What did you study in school and how did it impact you personally and professionally?
I obtained a master’s degree in human relations from the University of Oklahoma in 2015. Previously I had obtained a Bachelor of Science from Eastern New Mexico University. I would not have the rewarding career that I have without my education. Meeting people from all over the world while in college was an enlightening experience.
What led you to a career in nuclear security?
The mission excites me. Plus, getting to work with my father up until his retirement was an unforgettable experience.

When I’m not working, you can find me playing soccer or hiking in the Sandia Mountains.
What advice would you have for anyone interested in a career in public service?
If you have an interest, pursue it. We can always use people committed to the cause. When you show a desire to learn, people will teach you everything that you need to thrive.
Who is someone that inspires you and why?
My grandfather Leo Lovato was a good man, Airman (38 years of service), devoted husband (58 year of marriage), father, and grandfather. His character set a strong example that I have always tried to match.

I intend to attend the Veterans Day Ceremony in Albuquerque and as well visiting my grandfather’s gravesite.
