NNSA is pleased to announce that Amanda Tapia-Pittman has been named DOE’s Federal Project Manager of the Year for 2022.

The award recognizes Ms. Tapia-Pittman’s exceptional leadership, strategic thinking, and dynamic communication skills as the Federal Project Director for the NNSA Albuquerque Complex Project at Kirtland Air Force Base in New Mexico.

The NACP was completed on schedule in June 2022 and was $6.8 million below the total projected cost of $174.4 million. The new facility provides essential working space for more than 1,200 DOE employees and contractors and houses multiple organizations that offer essential support services for the national security mission, including programmatic, technical, legal, security, procurement, human resources, business, and administrative functions.

Ms. Tapia-Pittman was quick to describe the project's triumph as a team victory – the result of the commitment shown by NNSA colleagues, site and federal stakeholders, and subcontractors, who collaborated with a unified objective and vision. “It was critical we quickly addressed issues and utilized agile decision-making to keep the project moving forward. The team exhibited diligence and resiliency through hard work and commitment despite numerous challenges including COVID shutdowns, personnel turnover, and multiple design and user changes,” said Ms. Tapia-Pittman.

“Amanda's vision and leadership skills drove the project's success, and her ability to effectively manage resources, mitigate risks, and navigate complex challenges is exceptional,” said Ken Sheely, Acting Associate Administrator for Infrastructure at NNSA.

With more than more than 20 years of government experience in project management, Ms. Tapia-Pittman has dedicated 5 years to NNSA. She is currently serving as Construction Team Lead in the Office of Infrastructure Lifecycle Management.
