How do you support NNSA?
My official title is Management Analyst. I have served as an administrative professional for the Office of Systems Engineering and Integration in NNSA’s Office of Defense Programs for the past three years. I on-board new staff, organize meetings, and handle the logistical needs for staff, but I am above all a problem-solver for the team.

What is your personal background, and how has that shaped you and your approach to your career?
I bring many years of experience as a meeting planner, executive administrator, mom to twins, and an autism advocate. All of these experiences have prepared me to be able to multi-task, be detail oriented, manage my time well, and keep a cool and level head.

What did you study in school and how did it impact you personally and professionally?
I studied public relations at American University here in Washington, D.C. My educational background has impacted my integrity, my good ethics, my willingness to take accountability, and my thirst for learning new things. It reminds me every day to be open to new ideas and new ways of doing things, while also giving me the confidence to bring good ideas to the table.

What led you to a career in nuclear security?
I am a world history and politics nerd, so working in nuclear security feeds those interests. I am proud to do my small part to keep our nation safe.

What is the best part about your job?
The absolute best part of my job are the relationships and respect that I have formed with my team, which helps me work across all organizations within Defense Programs.

Tell us something interesting about yourself.
I have a passion for interior decorating, I love to fish, and shoot pool. The most interesting thing about me is that I serve as an autism advocate. I am very proud of that. In addition to kicking down doors for my son, I lend a helping hand to other families to help them find resources, to network with other families, but above all give them a feeling that they are not alone!

What advice would you have for anyone interested in a career in nuclear security?
The advice that I would give to anyone interested in a career in nuclear security is to know your history, keep an open mind, and embrace diversity of thought.

Who is someone that inspires you and why?
My son Dwight, who is on the autism spectrum, not only inspires me but takes my breath away because of his innocence, kind heart, and the fearless way he explores and learns new things.

How do you plan to commemorate this Administrative Professionals Month?
I plan to commemorate Administrative Professionals Month by continuing to build strong working relationships with my fellow admins and ensure that they receive the recognition they deserve.
