PROJECT SUMMARY
In August 2011, the Department of Energy issued a $102 million loan guarantee to finance Record Hill, a 51-MW wind power generation project and an eight-mile transmission line near the town of Roxbury, Maine. The power generation project reached full commercial operations in January 2012.
TECHNOLOGY INNOVATION
Record Hill introduced an innovative, performance-enhancing technology to the United States that allows more power output during extreme wind conditions than conventional wind turbine technology. Reduced wear-and-tear on the turbines also helps reduce operating and maintenance costs, and preserves the lifetime of the turbine components.
ECONOMIC IMPACT
Record Hill created 200 construction jobs and is expected to support eight permanent jobs.
CLIMATE BENEFIT
Record Hill is expected to generate 96,000 megawatt-hours of clean energy each year. It is expected to prevent 56,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions annually.
