PROJECT SUMMARY
In September 2011, the Department of Energy issued a $169 partial million loan guarantee through the Financial Institutions Partnership Program (FIPP) to finance Granite Reliable, a 99-MW wind power generation project. Granite Reliable reached full commercial operations in February 2012.
TECHNOLOGY INNOVATION
Granite Reliable was one of the first onshore wind farms in the United States to use a 3 MW wind turbine for its electrical generation technology. The generation capacity of these turbines reduces project costs on a per megawatt basis.
ECONOMIC IMPACT
Granite Reliable created 198 construction jobs and is expected to support 6 permanent jobs.
CLIMATE BENEFIT
Granite Reliable is expected to generate 224,000 megawatt-hours of clean energy each year. It will prevent 130,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions annually.
