The Shirley Basin South disposal site is a former uranium-ore-processing site managed under Title II of the Uranium Mill Tailings Radiation Control Act (UMTRCA). The site transitioned to DOE in 2005 and is administered under the provisions of a general Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) license. The site requires routine inspection and maintenance, groundwater monitoring, records-related activities, and stakeholder support.
