Bob Walker is the supervisor of the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Office of Legacy Management (LM) Archives and Information Management (AIM) team, which is responsible for preserving, protecting, and improving the accessibility of LM-related records and information. He is also the office manager for the LM Business Center (LMBC) in Morgantown, West Virginia.
Walker has more than 30 years of experience, including more than 15 years with LM. While with LM, Walker:
- Oversaw Information Technology (IT) department.
- Served as the lead for the Cybersecurity program from its inception.
- Established LM’s data center in the newly built LMBC.
- Led the preservation and relocation of Yucca Mountain systems and electronic records to the LMBC.
- Developed an IT project management process and standardized processes for budgeting LM-related IT work.
- Has been a trusted advisor to many of the DOE working groups and steering committees.
Prior to LM, he worked with other federal agencies, including the National Defense University (NDU), the National Institute of Health (NIH), Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR), and the National Energy Technology Laboratory (NETL). While supporting these federal missions, Walker developed a broad range of technology-support expertise, including information assurance at NDU, data center operations at NIH, help desk management at NAVAIR, and software development at NETL.
Walker holds a bachelor’s degree in computer science from West Virginia University and a master’s degree in business administration from Southern New Hampshire University.
