The Oxnard site (MED/AEC Legacy Site) occupies 13.75 acres in an industrial section of Oxnard, California, about 50 miles northwest of Los Angeles. Allis-Chalmers, a farm implement manufacturing company, purchased the property in 1949 and built a manufacturing plant that operated from 1949 to 1981.
