The Monument Valley processing site is regulated under Title I of the Uranium Mill Tailings Radiation Control Act (UMTRCA). DOE completed surface remediation activities at the site in 1994, which included the removal of uranium mill tailings and other residual radioactive materials. Since 2003, the DOE Office of Legacy Management has managed the site, which requires routine inspection and maintenance, records-related activities, stakeholder support, and annual groundwater monitoring.
