2023 marks ninth consecutive year LM has been recognized.
August 21, 2023For the ninth straight year, the U.S. Department of Energy Office of Legacy Management has applied for and won an Electronic Product Environmental Assessment Tool Purchaser Award, which recognizes organizations for excellence in procuring sustainable electronic equipment.
Every year, LM calculates its EPEAT numbers by category and submits those numbers to the Global Electronics Council. Organizations can register their electronic purchases with GEC for rating so the organization can use their score to apply for an EPEAT Purchaser Award.

Manufacturers register products in the EPEAT category based on the devices’ abilities to meet certain criteria, which include materials selection, supply-chain greenhouse gas emissions reduction, design for circularity and product longevity, energy conservation, end-of-life management, and corporate performance.
EPEAT awards nominees qualify under six product categories:
- Computers and Displays.
- Imaging Equipment.
- Mobile Phones.
- Photovoltaic Modules and Inverters.
- Televisions.
- Servers.
Recognition can be qualified under multiple categories. This year, LM received the EPEAT award for making purchases within two categories: Computers and Displays and Imaging Equipment.
LM will apply for its tenth EPEAT award in 2024 and hopes to be recognized another consecutive year for excellence and dedication to sustainability.
“LM is proud to be recognized for the seventh time as an EPEAT Purchaser by the Global Electronic Council organization and will continue being committed to procuring sustainable electronics,” Brown said. “As a winner, we received a calculation of the environmental and cost benefits associated with our EPEAT-registered purchases, as demonstrated in the infographic.”
