LM Director Speaks at the 2017 Intergovernmental Meeting with DOE

LM Director Carmelo Melendez spoke during the 15th combined Intergovernmental Meeting with the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), held November 15 through 17, 2017, at the Grand Hyatt Riverwalk in San Antonio, Texas. The meeting featured a variety of presentations and roundtable discussions designed to increase communication and coordination between DOE; tribes; and federal, state, and local governments, regarding communities affected by the ongoing cleanup of the nuclear weapons complex.

Attendees had discussions with officials from DOE’s Office of Environmental Management and other senior officials within DOE and other federal agencies. Participating organizations included the Energy Communities Alliance, Environmental Council of the States, National Association of Attorneys General, National Governors Association’s Federal Facilities Task Force, National Conference of State Legislatures, and the State and Tribal Government Working Group.
