Celebrate Earth Day with us on Saturday, April 22! Take a hike, go for a walk, conduct a science experiment, or visit an LM interpretive center to learn more about our mission.
Get involved by participating in Earth Day activities in your communities. Here’s what’s happening with LM’s interpretive centers:
- The City of Grand Junction, Colorado, will host the Southwest Arbor Fest at Lincoln Park on Saturday, April 22, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Atomic Legacy Cabin’s Ecology Explore booth at the event will display hands-on planetary elements — from rocks to animal pelts. An Earth Day display will be available in the Atomic Legacy Cabin’s exhibit hall during normal hours Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.
- In the St. Louis area, join the Weldon Spring Site staff at the St. Louis Earth Day Festival at Forest Park, Saturday and Sunday, April 22-23, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Be a scientist for a day in an interactive tour of Earth’s geological wonders. Learn how to identify, test, and evaluate various minerals using real scientific tools. And don’t forget to take home your DOE Earth Day coloring book and magnifying glass. You can also visit us at the Weldon Spring Site Interpretive Center. We’ll have an interactive Earth Day display with staff available for tours. You can also explore one of the site’s regular exhibits to learn more about the first Earth Day in 1970.
- In Cincinnati, Ohio, say hello to the Fernald Preserve staff at the Cincinnati State’s Earth Jam at the Clifton Campus on Thursday, April 20, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., and at the Greater Cincinnati Earth Day Festival in Summit Park on Saturday, April 22, from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. We’ll have interactive activities, from puzzles to animal pelts. You’ll leave inspired and grateful for our Earth. You can also visit us at the Fernald Preserve. We’ll have a temporary Earth Day display and will be hosting a Night Hike Saturday, April 22, from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m.
