The data was gathered from public announcements that were made on or after January 21, 2021: directly from the company, from governmental sources, from news outlets, or from other reputable sources. Dollar investment amounts and employment totals are only included if they are reported in the public announcements; many facilities therefore lack investment and employment estimates. Many facilities are conditional on financing, funding, site control, and other facts, and inclusion on this map does not imply that these facilities will come online as reported.

The Department’s data teams scour numerous publicly available data sources to populate the map. The map is solely based on publicly available information from announcements made on or after January 21, 2021.
The map currently contains supply-chain manufacturing announcements related to the following:
- Batteries
- Electric vehicles/component parts/EV chargers
- Heat pumps and clean HVAC
- Hydrogen: electrolyzers and fuel cells
- Nuclear
- Offshore wind
- Solar
Yes. The Department plans to add technologies to the map over time as data become available and as resources allow.
DOE only includes information that is publicly announced. Sometimes, those announcements include projections for the number of jobs that the manufacturing facility will include, but often those announcements do not include that level of detail.
