The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Office of Indian Energy, in partnership with Western Area Power Administration (Western), will present the next Tribal Renewable Energy Series webinar, Tribal Energy Development Operation and Maintenance Best Practices, on Wednesday, March 25, 2015, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Mountain time.

Attendees will learn about the challenges and benefits of developing a tribal strategic energy plan, proven methods for fostering and growing management capabilities, ways to ensure tribal staff and council members have access to key information they need to serve as a resource for tribal leaders, and the value of the plan in helping the Tribe move toward a more sustainable energy future.

Speakers Doug MacCourt, Partner at Ater Wynne LLP, and Brian Lipscomb, Chief Executive Officer of Energy Keepers, will share best practices in strategic energy planning, tips for overcoming challenges, and ideas for using public participation techniques to support plan development and implementation.

“Energy development is an intensive undertaking from many perspectives,” said Lipscomb. “It typically requires large capital investments and commitment to development of adequate capacity to guide decisions and implement plans. Without a sound strategy in place to target these investments and set the course, success would be difficult to achieve.”

There is no charge to attend the webinar, but advance registration is required. Register now
