Serving as the Principal Deputy Director for the Grid Deployment Office at the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), Patricia A. Hoffman is supporting the execution of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and the development of the Grid Deployment Office. From January 2017 until November 2017, Patricia served as DOE’s Acting Under Secretary for Science and Energy and was also a Senate-confirmed Assistant Secretary for the Office of Electricity from June 2010 to January 2017, after serving as Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary since November 2007.
Dylan Reed is a Senior Advisor for External Affairs with the Grid Deployment Office (GDO) at the U.S. Department of Energy. In this role, he oversees stakeholder engagement and legislative affairs for GDO program divisions. He was most recently a political consultant working as a member of the senior team for a bipartisan national clean energy campaign directly overseeing government affairs engagement. Previously, he worked at Advanced Energy Economy serving in a multitude of roles, including to lead congressional affairs and direct state engagement in Florida, Indiana, and Virginia.
Jeff Dennis is the Deputy Director for Transmission at the Grid Deployment Office (GDO). Prior to joining GDO, Jeff was General Counsel and Managing Director at Advanced Energy Economy (now Advanced Energy United). He also has held senior legal and policy positions at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) and worked as a lawyer in private practice representing a wide range of private and public energy sector clients in proceedings before FERC, state public utility commissions, and in the courts.
Ariel Horowitz is the Deputy Director for Grid Modernization at the Grid Deployment Office (GDO). Prior to joining GDO, Ariel was a Senior Program Director at the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center (MassCEC), where she directed their market development work related to grid modernization, energy storage, resiliency, and clean transportation. She also oversaw much of MassCEC’s work supporting the tech-to-market transition of new energy innovations by researchers and early-stage companies.
Kelly Lefler serves as the Deputy Director for Environmental Reviews, Permitting, and Resource Adequacy in the Grid Deployment Office at the U.S. Department of Energy. Kelly comes to GDO with significant DOE experience, having held roles in several DOE offices, including the Office of the Under Secretary for Science and Innovation, the Office of Nuclear Energy, and the Office of Energy Policy and Systems Analysis. Kelly was a key leader in the initial implementation and development of the Civil Nuclear Credit Program.
Ashley Roberts is the Chief Operating Officer of the Grid Deployment Office. Working at the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) prior to joining the Department of Energy, Ashley brings 15 years of federal government experience to this position. Most recently, she served as the Deputy Director for Decommissioning, Uranium Recovery, and Waste Programs, where she provided executive direction for the regulation and oversight of low-level waste and uranium recovery and NRC’s materials, power, and non-power reactor decommissioning.
