DOE ordered Temspec Incorporated to pay a $13,705 civil penalty after Temspec had manufactured and distributed in commerce in the U.S. multiple units of the noncompliant single package vertical air conditioner model VHC60. The Order adopted a Compromise Agreement, which reflected settlement terms between DOE and Temspec.
On May 8, 2019, DOE issued a Notice of Noncompliance Determination to Temspec finding that single package vertical air conditioner model VHC60 was noncompliant with applicable energy conservation standards based on the company's own testing. Temspec provided DOE documents and records showing the number of units Temspec distributed and to whom.
