DOE ordered Royston Group (Royston) to pay a $4,100 civil penalty after Royston had manufactured and distributed in commerce in the U.S. multiple units of the noncompliant Royston commercial refrigeration equipment 03.0-MDI-03HC-S. The Order adopted a Compromise Agreement, which reflected settlement terms between DOE and Royston.
On September 28,2002, DOE issued a Notice of Noncompliance Determination to Royston finding that the Royston commercial refrigeration equipment basic model 03.0-MDI-03HC-S does not comply with applicable energy conservation standards based on Royston's own testing. Royston provided DOE records showing the number of units Royston distributed.
