DOE ordered Rheem Manufacturing Co. to pay a $8,400 civil penalty after Rheem had manufactured and distributed in commerce in the U.S. mutliple units of a noncompliant central air conditioning heat pump.  The Order adopted a Compromise Agreement, which reflected settlement terms between DOE and Rheem.

On March 28, 2019, DOE issued a Notice of Noncompliance Determination to Rheem finding that Rheem central air conditioning heat pump model combination UPNL-024JAZ and RHAL-FR24P does not comply with applicable energy conservation standards based on DOE testing.  Rheem provided DOE records of the number of units Rheem distributed.
