DOE ordered QSSI Lighting & Electrical Products Group Inc. to pay a $43,533 civil penalty after QSSI self-reported that various QSSI models do not comply with the energy conservation standard for metal halide lamp fixtures. QSSI had manufactured and distributed in commerce in the U.S. multiple units of the models. The Order adopted a Compromise Agreement, which reflected settlement terms between DOE and QSSI.

On August 29, 2016, DOE issued a Notice to amend the Noncompliance Determination correcting an incorrect noncompliant basic model number.

DOE issued a Notice of Noncompliance Determination to QSSI on February 14, 2013, finding that various QSSI models do not comport with the energy conservation standards. DOE determined the products were noncompliant based on information provided by the company.  QSSI notified each person (or company) to whom QSSI distributed the noncompliant products that the products do not meet Federal standards. In addition, QSSI provided to DOE documents and records showing the number of units QSSI distributed and to whom.
