DOE ordered Nortek Global HVAC LLC to pay a $990,288 civil penalty after Nortek had manufactured and distributed in commerce in the U.S. multiple units of the noncompliant single package central air conditioner basic model number P7RE-048K. The Order adopted a Compromise Agreement, which reflected settlement terms between DOE and Nortek.
On May 16, 2019, DOE issued a Notice of Noncompliance Determination to Nortek finding that the single package central air conditioner basic model number P7RE-048K does not comply with applicable energy conservation standards based on DOE testing. Nortek provided DOE records showing the number of units Nortek distributed.
