DOE ordered LG Electronics (LG) to pay a $127,623 civil penalty after LG had manufactured and distributed in commerce in the U.S. multiple units of the noncompliant LG clothes washers' basic model # LUWD1C. The Order adopted a Compromise Agreement, which reflected settlement terms between DOE and LG.
On May 28, 2020, DOE issued a Notice of Noncompliance Determination to LG finding that the LG clothes washers' basic model # LUWD1C, does not comply with applicable energy/water conservation standards based on DOE testing. LG provided DOE records showing the number of units LG distributed.
