DOE ordered LG Electronics USA, Inc. to pay a $56,660 civil penalty after finding LG had manufactured and distributed in commerce in the U.S. multiple units of LG dehumidifier basic model UD701KOG2, which DOE had found did not comply with applicable energy conservation standards. The Order adopted a Compromise Agreement, which reflected settlement terms between DOE and LG.
On December 8, 2016, DOE issued a Notice of Noncompliance Determination to LG Electronics USA, Inc. finding that LG basic model UD701KOG2 does not comply with applicable energy conservation standards based on the company's testing. LG was required to notify each person (or company) to whom LG distributed units of the basic model that the product does not meet Federal standards, and provide to DOE a list of those notified. In addition, LG was required to provide to DOE any and all records, reports, and other documentation pertaining to the acquisition, ordering, storage, shipment, or sale of units of the basic model in the United States in the past five years.
