DOE ordered Haier American Corporation to pay a $4,000,000 civil penalty after Haier had manufactured and distributed in commerce in the U.S. multiple units of the noncompliant Haier dehumidifier models DM32EK, DM32M-TC and DM32M-T. The Order adopted a Compromise Agreement, which reflected settlement terms between DOE and Haier.

On February 12, 2019, DOE issued a Notice of Noncompliance Determination to Haier, finding that the Haier dehumidifier models DM32EK, DM32M-TC and DM32M-T. do not comply with applicable energy conservation standards based on DOE testing. Haier provided DOE records showing the number of units Haier distributed.
