DOE ordered Galanz Americas Limited Company & Zhongshan Galanz Consumer Electric Appliances Co., Ltd. (“Galanz”) to pay a $25,312,725 civil penalty after Galanz had manufactured and distributed in commerce in the U.S. multiple units of the noncompliant Galanz model number BCD-215V-62H. The Order adopted a Settlement Agreement, which reflected settlement terms between DOE and Galanz.

On September 2, 2022, DOE issued a Notice of Noncompliance Determination to Galanz finding that the Galanz model number BCD-215V-62H does not comply with applicable energy conservation standards based on DOE testing. Galanz provided DOE records showing the number of units Galanz distributed. Federal law subjects manufacturers and private labelers to civil penalties if those parties distribute in the U.S. products that do not meet applicable energy conservation standards.
