DOE ordered Electrolux Home Products to pay a $6,905,300 civil penalty after finding Electrolux had manufactured and distributed in commerce in the U.S. multiple units of Frigidaire basic model U21 noncompliant freezer. The Order adopted a Compromise Agreement, which reflected settlement terms between DOE and Electrolux.
On January 19, 2017, DOE issued a Notice of Noncompliance Determination to Electrolux finding that Frigidaire freezer basic model U21 does not comply with applicable energy conservation standards based on DOE testing. Electrolux was required to notify each person (or company) to whom Electrolux distributed the noncompliant products that the product does not meet Federal standards. In addition, Electrolux provided DOE documents and records showing the number of units Electrolux distributed and to whom.
