DOE ordered Changhong Meiling Co., Ltd. ("Meiling") (formerly Hefei Meiling Co., Ltd.) to pay a $1,901,540 civil penalty after Meiling manufactured and distributed in commerce in the U.S. multiple units of noncompliant Amana brand freezer basic model number AQC0902DRW. The Order adopted a Compromise Agreement, which reflected settlement terms between DOE and Meiling.
On November 21, 2017, DOE issued a Notice of Noncompliance Determination to Hefei Meiling Co., Ltd., finding that Amana brand freezer basic model number AQC0902DRW does not comply with applicable energy conservation standards based on DOE testing.
