Food storage and preparation equipment, whether operated by federal employees or food-service contractors, must meet federal efficiency guidelines. Federal agencies are required to purchase products certified by ENERGY STAR or that meet or exceed the efficiency level designated by the Federal Energy Management Program (FEMP).
