Dr. Marianne Walck, National Energy Technology Laboratory (NETL) Director, welcomed Dr. Geri Richmond, Under Secretary for Science and Innovation at the Department of Energy (DOE); Derek Passarelli, Principal Deputy Under Secretary for Science and Innovation; Brad Crabtree, Assistant Secretary for the Office of Fossil Energy and Carbon Management (FECM); and other DOE leaders and staff to the NETL Albany, OR complex for a town hall on July 9, 2024.

Dr. Walck, along with Dr. Richmond, and Crabtree highlighted the significant work happening at NETL Albany and how that work is pushing the boundaries of scientific discovery with the private sector. The DOE leaders elaborated on near-term investments at the lab and how it will benefit the local Albany, OR community and set an example for the rest of the nation. 

Additionally, NETL researchers received acknowledgements for their work in advancing carbon management technologies, while also strengthening the resiliency of alloys used in all industries, including construction, aviation, and health care. The town hall was followed by a tour of the NETL Albany laboratory and a summer employee appreciation event.
