Office of Fossil Energy and Carbon Management
September 20, 2024The Office of Fossil Energy and Carbon Management gives notice of receipt of an Application, filed on June 29, 2022, by Cryopeak LNG Solutions Corporation (Cryopeak), requesting long-term, multi-contract authorization to engage in imports of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from Canada and Mexico and subsequent export of imported and domestically produced LNG on an amount up to the equivalent of 51.75 billion cubic feet (Bcf) of natural gas per year. Cryopeak requests authorization to export LNG to (1) any country with which the United States currently has, or in the future may enter into, a free trade agreement requiring national treatment for trade in natural gas (FTA Nations) and (2) any country with which the United States does not have a free trade agreement requiring national treatment for trade in natural gas with which trade is not prohibited by United States law or policy (Non-FTA Nations). The authorization is requested through December 31, 2050. Cryopeak plans to transport the LNG predominantly by truck using Department of Transportation (DOT) approved highway trailers, or in approved International Organization for Standardization (ISO) containers from existing liquefaction facilities to ports where the ISO containers will be loaded onto ocean-going carriers for delivery to markets. Cryopeak requests this authorization on its own behalf and as agent for other parties who hold title to the LNG at the time of export.
