The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) is launching an initiative to meet Agency priorities of sustainability and resilience, and to increase clean energy production by making potentially thousands of acres of DOE land available through leases for the development of new clean electricity generation. To support this effort, DOE is hosting an Industry Day where Secretary Jennifer Granholm will present DOE’s vision for utilizing DOE land to achieve clean electricity goals.  Also, DOE senior leaders will share information on sites potentially available for development.  Clean electricity could include electrical energy produced from resources that generate no carbon emissions, including marine energy, solar, wind, hydrokinetic (including tidal, wave, current, and thermal), geothermal, hydroelectric, nuclear, renewably sourced hydrogen, and electrical energy generation from fossil resources to the extent there is active capture and storage of carbon dioxide emissions that meets EPA requirements. Participants will have the opportunity to ask questions and provide feedback.

Who should attend? Industry representatives with experience in implementing commercial scale (200MW or larger) clean electricity projects. Such parties must have the capacity and the resources to construct, own, and maintain facilities and infrastructure to generate clean electricity.

Agenda:  In addition to remarks by Secretary Granholm and Council on Environmental Quality leadership, the agenda will include two panels. The first panel will consist of senior DOE program leaders who will discuss potential opportunities to lease DOE land for the development of clean electricity projects. The second panel will cover policy and technical issues such as leasing authorities and National Environmental Policy Act considerations.

Registration: Interested participants must register by Wednesday, July 19, 2023 at [email protected] and provide their name (as it appears on their government-issued identification), title, organization or company, e-mail address, and telephone number. Interested participants may also submit questions to this address no later than Wednesday, July 19, 2023.
