To celebrate Veterans Day, EM highlights former service members who have joined EM on their journey in civilian work-life.
Photo was taken of U.S. Army Sergeant Robert Beedle of the 11-104th, 91st Training Division where he was reporting to the president of the board where soldiers competed in the best warrior competition that tested their endurance and knowledge of warrior tasks and drills.

Robert Beedle. Project controls specialist for Site Operation Infrastructure Division, Carlsbad Field Office.
What branch did you serve in; when; where stationed? How many years of service?
US Army Reserves 2007-2019 Omaha, Nebraska. 12 Years.
Most memorable event/moment during your service?
I was deployed to Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom working in the motor pool providing direct support maintenance support for operations at Coalition Operation Base Speicher in the 394th Command Sustainment Support Battalion.
How has your military service helped prepare you for the job you do in EM?
Being in the military has benefited me with leadership and managing skills that I would never have received otherwise. I also understand operations on a large and small scale.
When did you begin working for EM and what got you interested in the cleanup mission?
I started with EM in February 2024; the Department of Energy and EM offered me a completely new experience from the Army. I have since developed pride in the work that goes into the mission here at the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant and with EM.
