The U.S. Department of Energy awarded a Minority Serving Institutions Partnership Program competitive grant to the University of Texas at San Antonio.

December 19, 2024CINCINNATI — The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) awarded a competitive grant as a result of its Environmental Management (EM) Minority Serving Institutions Partnership Program Funding Opportunity Announcement DE-FOA-0002820 to the University of Texas at San Antonio.
The award will focus on enhancing minority serving institution programs to help foster a sustainable and diverse EM science, technology, engineering, and math workforce pipeline. The award will also aid in promoting the development of a nationally engaged scientific and engineering workforce that will lead to future career pathways in the EM complex for underrepresented groups.
The total value of the grant is $3,141,217 with a period of performance of three years from Jan. 1, 2025, through Dec. 31, 2027.
For more than 30 years, EM has remained focused on addressing the environmental legacy of nuclear weapons development and nuclear energy research that helped end World War II, win the Cold War, and position the United States as a leader in clean nuclear energy. Collectively, EM is delivering results that are protecting the environment, supporting communities and enabling a concerted focus on safely completing the mission sooner and more efficiently.
