James R. Bogle

James R. Bogle, Director, Office of Special Operations

James R. Bogle is the Director of the Office of Special Operations (OSO) within the Office of Environment, Health, Safety and Security (EHSS).  Mr. Bogle is responsible for overseeing the executive protection mission for the Secretary and Deputy Secretary of Energy. 

Mr. Bogle previously served as the Deputy Director of OSO, where he managed day-to-day operations and directed activities within the special operations program.  He managed the implementation of methods to mitigate results of special protection intelligence investigations of threats against the Secretary of Energy and other DOE officials.  
Mr. Bogle has over 30 years’ experience in his field with 13 years as an Air Force Office of Special Investigations (AFOSI) Special Agent.  During his time with AFOSI, Mr. Bogle held numerous positions which included Director of Operations for AFOSI Protection Operations, Special Programs Operations Chief, and Counterintelligence Program Manager.  In these roles, he led multi-disciplinary teams in the execution of global executive protection missions, counterintelligence initiatives, and national security investigations. 

After retiring from the U.S. Air Force with 20 years of service, Mr. Bogle joined the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) in 2012 as the Counterintelligence Program Manager where he developed and implemented public health intelligence policies, programs, and procedures in support of the HHS Secretary, Deputy Secretary and senior leadership.

Mr. Bogle holds a B.S. Degree in Criminal Justice with a minor in Sociology.
