David J. Weitzman

David Weitzman is an industrial hygienist in the Department of Energy (DOE) Office of Health, Safety and Security. He has developed worker protection policy since joining the DOE in 1990. He was a member of the team that authored DOE's Chronic Beryllium Disease Prevention Program and Worker Safety and Health regulations and was the lead developer of the implementation guides for those directives.
Mr. Weitzman is a member of DOE’s Industrial Hygiene Coordinating Committee and Industrial Hygiene Topical Committee; and the ANSI 88.2 Practices for Respiratory Protection Committee.
Mr. Weitzman served as the Director of the U.S. EPA's Environmental Health and Safety Division. He has held several industry and consulting positions focused on industrial chemicals, power utilities, pulp and paper mills, and analytic and research laboratories. He is a Certified Industrial Hygienist, holds a Masters Degree in Environmental Health Sciences, and a Bachelors Degree in Chemical Engineering.
