The Office of Environment, Safety, and Health (ES&H) Reporting & Analysis (EHSS-23) held the first annual Joint Community of Practice (CoP) Workshop at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) in Livermore, CA June 25-27, 2024. EHSS-23 is grateful to LLNL for enthusiastically hosting this successful workshop.
There were five EHSS-23 CoPs represented during the workshop:
- Accident Prevention and Investigation Program (APiP)
- ES&H Data Analytics and Machine Learning (DAMaL) Tools
- Occurrence Reporting and Processing System (ORPS)
- Operating Experience Committee (OEC)
- Suspect/Counterfeit Items Working Group (SCIWG)
This two-and-half-day workshop showcased presentations from sites across the Department of Energy (DOE) and the National Nuclear Security Agency (NNSA) to share site operating experience and case studies, share lessons learned, discuss reporting processes and policies, learn about current and future EHSS-23 initiatives, and provide feedback on how to improve EHSS reporting databases and assistance. A main goal for this workshop was to find areas of commonality and potential cross-cutting initiatives across the CoPs. Participants appreciated the positive energy during the workshop, the opportunity to meet in person, and the recognition of each CoP’s strengths to collaboratively drive improvement across DOE/NNSA.
Space was limited for attendance and the available space filled quickly during the registration process for the workshop. In total, 87 individuals were able to participate in person.
