In 2020, Port Houston, Texas topped the list of ports in the United States for total freight moved. A total of 276 million short tons of freight moved through Port Houston that year, followed by the Port of South Louisiana with 225 million tons and the Port of Corpus Christi, Texas, with 151 million tons. The Port of New York and New Jersey was the only other port that moved more than 100 million tons of freight. The Gulf Coast ports moved a greater share of export freight while the West Coast ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach were dominated by import freight, as was the Port of New York-New Jersey.
