In her position as Acting Deputy Director of the Golden Field Office Business Services Division within the Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE), Marlys Kinsey leads the rigorous oversight of the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) by closely monitoring and reporting on operations and guiding NREL on environmental, financial, project management, property, cyber security, information technology, and facilities requirements. The Division also provides comprehensive, reliable, and actionable financial and environmental services to the EERE community.
Before acting in this new position, Marlys held a variety of positions within the EERE Financial Oversight Office, an organization responsible for financial execution of more than $1.2 billion in annual EERE, other DOE, and non-DOE funds supporting Financial Assistance, NREL, support services contracts, and Program Direction execution paths. She served as its Director from 2009-2018.
Prior to joining EERE, she worked for the Western Area Power Administration within the U.S. Department of Energy where she led a diverse team of professionals in developing procurement, property, budget, standardized cost, project execution, and accounting processes; reporting and internal control frameworks; and business system capabilities to improve business management, data collection, and analysis.
She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Business from the University of Colorado and a Master of Business Administration from City University in Bellevue, Washington.
